St. Tropez Express Mousse

So I did my Periscope review (see the link below) a couple days ago on this St. Tropez Self Tan Express Mousse.  All in all I would totally recommend it and I will be rebuying it once I run out.  My main reasons for that are that it is very easy to apply, it doesn’t streak (like at all!), it has NO ODOR (crazy right?!), it developed SUPER fast (great for us impatient folk) and the color is SO pretty.  I’ve tried St. Tropez in the past and I remember it being very green tinted but this formula was more of a brown with a SLIGHT tinge of a green base for that olive glow everyone loves.

St. Tropez Kit from Ulta $49.00

I purchased this kit at Ulta and while I do like the In Shower lotion, I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing that so you could probably save some money and just buy the Bronzing Mousse alone from Amazon.  Or if you don’t care about the fast development time, you could just buy the basic St. Tropez Tanner for even cheaper!

Ulta Haul and First Impressions // Stila & Benefit

Yesterday I picked up some new stuff at Ulta.  Is there anything better?! Two things were recommendations from some of my darling friends so I knew they would be great.  The other two things were total shots in the dark so I was a little scared!  Here is what I picked up…

So let’s start out with the Stila Aqua Glow Serum Foundation.  This was $45.00 and the color I chose was Medium.  I was really excited about this because first off I’ve never tried any Stila foundation and second because it claimed to be build able coverage with a radiant finish.  Right up my alley! Here is the dreamy description from Ulta’s website:

Flood your skin with light, moisture and weightless coverage with every radiant, perfecting drop. This ultra lightweight, ionized water-based serum foundation offers a way to instantly blur, hydrate and perfect the look of skin with buildable to full coverage. A generation of highly refractive, multi-reflective color pigments use light to optically smooth the skin and instantly reduce the appearance of skin imperfections, pores, fine lines and wrinkles.

Stila’s Electrolyte Balance System, a carefully combined complex of ionized water, advanced hyaluronic acid and essential minerals, helps hydrate and nourish for skin that glows with healthy radiance. The weightless texture melts into skin to create a perfected, undetectable finish so natural, no one will know you’re wearing makeup!

My first impression of this was amazing!  It’s light enough that you can still see your natural skin underneath but enough coverage that it hides imperfections.  It has a dewey finish and held up all day during our outing to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.  It was also not cakey at all and is a great summer foundation.  I only applied one layer so I definitely gotten away with doing another.

Next is the Dew the Hoola Matte Liquid Bronzer.  This one is $28.00 and I had no expectations for it.  I liked that it claimed to be matte and I was excited that it was liquid because I’ve been wearing more products that aren’t powder lately and have been loving it.  It was OK in my opinion.  It wasn’t very dark at all so I wouldn’t consider it to be good for contouring.  It’s more for just an all over bronzing glow.  Which is good but I like more of a defined contour.  I’m debating on returning this until so I’ll see how much it grows on me.

Thirdly is the Stila Aqua Glow Watercolor Blush.  This is $26.00 and I got the color Water Blossom.  This pairs GREAT with the Stila foundation.  It’s light, airy and has amazing pigment without being overpowering.  The 5 colors they offer are all dreamy and the one I chose based off a recommendation was just TDF.  This is a must purchase and my favorite of all 4.

Finally is the Colour Riche by L’Oréal lipstick in the color Fairest Nude.  This is a great throw on, toss in your purse, running late, but I still want to look doll perfect lipstick color.  This was also a recommendation so I knew I would love it.  It did wear off quite quickly so make sure you bring it along with you for touch ups throughout the day.  It was the perfect nude to pair along with my beachy summer makeup look.

So here’s my super professional high quality Snapchat shot of my makeup for an example and my cute little Goldie or “Go Go” girl.  If you were lucky enough to catch my first impression on Periscope, then yay for you but if not, I’ll try to get it uploaded to YouTube when I get home from vacation.  All in all I think I picked up some great products.  These are definitely summer must haves and great weightless and light makeup looks.  Let summer begin!

Top 8 All Time Favorite Perfumes

I am such a perfume girl.  Perfume is probably the second most beauty product I purchase besides actual makeup.  I just love the way I feel wearing a good perfume and I also love the memories I have with each one.  Someone once told me to buy a new perfume for really special occasions like your wedding, the birth of a child, a special anniversary, a super fun concert, or anything you want.  The smell will always remind you of that event and hold a special place in your heart.

These are definitely my top 8 perfumes of all time.  I can’t put them in any particular order because I just love them all.  A few of them I do not have at the moment so I’m trying to resist going to buy another bottle!  The one I probably wear the most and people often recognise as “my smell” is Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb.  That one is just intoxicating.  It’s such a unique fragrance and so super feminine.

  1. Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb  //  $85.00 – 1 oz.
  2. Miss Dior Eau de Parfum  //  $74.00 – 1 oz.
  3. Aquolina Pink Sugar  //  $30.00 – 1 oz (Literally smells like sugared donuts)
  4. Ralph Lauren Blue  //  $55.99 – 2.5 oz.
  5. Mac Turquatic  //  $30.00 – 0.68 oz.
  6. Vera Wang Signature  //  $72.00 – 1.7 oz.
  7. Chloe Eau de Parfume  //  $75.00 – 1 oz.
  8. Philosophy Amazing Grace  //  $48.00 – 2oz.

My Perfect Wedding Lip

So even though this is almost an exact copy of my last post, it’s really not because here is another one of my favorite nude lips!  Mac Brave lipstick has been one of my favorites for 10+ years.  That’s really saying something!  And it is the lipstick I chose to wear for my wedding.

Brave is such a gorgeous brick toned nude.  It might wash out darker skin tones but for fair skin tones such as myself, it’s a great nude without being too light.  It is also from Mac’s satin line which has a little more staying power.  Not as drying as a matte but not as sheer as a cremesheen or lustre.  I think I reapplied my lipstick once, MAYBE twice the entire day of my wedding.  Here, I had paired this with Mac Subculture liner but it appears to be out of production (boo!) but I would pair it with Mac Boldy Bare to achieve the same affect.

You really can’t go wrong with this duo!!

Mac Boldly Bare Liner  //  $16.50

Mac Angel Lipstick  //  $17.00

This has to be one of my favorite lip combos and also one of the easiest to wear.  If I’m in a rush and need to grab some lipstick stat, I go for this darling duo from Mac.

Boldly Bare is the best nude pencil in my opinion.  I use it for literally everything.  You can also just line and fill in your entire lip for a nude matte look or add a touch of gloss on top for a little lustre.
